SLYLA to Implement US Lacrosse's Small Sided Game Rules in Spring 2017 

 

As I'm sure many of you have seen, US Lacrosse is making dramatic changes and implementing youth rules that would allow for smaller sided games at most youth levels.  Your SLYLA board has been discussing these rule changes internally as well as with several of our league program directors at the offseason meetings held over the last several months.  Your SLYLA board wants to make sure everyone is aware that based on these meetings, it is the leagues' intention to play under these rules in the spring of 2017.  This will mean for most age groups, among many other things, smaller numbers of players on the field, smaller fields and goals as well as smaller rosters.  US Lacrosse is still working on the final youth rules with the plan to release them on their website prior to the US Lacrosse convention in Baltimore on January 20-22, 2017.  We will post more information as it becomes known.
